Rika Fujiwara ( Japanese 藤原 里 華 , Fujiwara Rika ; born September 19, 1981 in Fujisawa , Kanagawa ) is a former Japanese tennis player .
Career
Fujiwara, whose professional career began in 1999, achieved her best placings in the world rankings with rank 84 (August 2005) in singles and 13th (November 2002) in doubles . So far she has won nine singles and 33 doubles titles at ITF tournaments.
In 2002 she and her doubles partner Shinobu Asagoe reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open , which they lost to Martina Hingis and Anna Kurnikowa . In the same year Fujiwara reached the semi-finals of the French Open with her compatriot Ai Sugiyama , in which they had to admit defeat to Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs with 1: 6, 7: 6 and 2: 6.
She won her only WTA title in 2012 at the hard court tournament in Copenhagen alongside her compatriot Kimiko Date Krumm .
She also played 28 games for the Japanese Fed Cup team from 2001 to 2012 , where she celebrated 23 wins.
On March 4, 2020, she announced her retirement.
