Rinsdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1344.

In a major fire in 1605, five houses and four barns were destroyed. In 1796 the people of Rinsdorf bought a fire engine that still exists today, and the volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1932 .

In 1791 the first chapel school was built in the village. This was replaced by a new school in 1884 and has housed the Heimatstube since 1971. In 1967 the last school in town was built. The primary school is no longer used as such. The conversion to a community center and fire station followed as early as 1982 .

The school, built in 1884, was demolished in 1976. A year later, an evangelical community center was built on this property. In 1980 the Protestant club house was rebuilt. The handover of the newly built kindergarten took place in 1985.

In 1816 Rinsdorf became Prussian. The first water pipes were built in 1902, followed by electricity in 1911. The main road through the town was built in 1859, and further expansion took place in 1968.

In 1913 an imperial linden tree was planted “on the Holler” to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Wilhelm II's reign.

Since 1807, Rinsdorf belonged to the mayor's office or the office of Wilnsdorf , on January 1, 1969, this was dissolved in the course of the municipal reorganization and the place was incorporated into the new large municipality of Wilnsdorf.

Since 1969, Rinsdorf has won the competition Our village should become more beautiful several times :

In 1979 the newly built sewage treatment plant between Rinsdorf and Eisern was put into operation.

In 2006 and 2007, the old main road through the town was completely renovated. A renovated bridge over the Heckenbach, a road widening , a new pedestrian light and a renovation of the village square in the center of the village were on the list. In 2009 and 2010 the connecting road to Eisern was renovated. The trees on the roadside towards the valley were felled, the road was widened and the slope side was supported with concrete walls. A bike path was built.
