Rita Casale

Rita Casale (born April 3, 1968 in Ostuni , Italy ) is an Italian-German philosopher and professor of educational science at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . Her main research interests are educational philosophy , feminist theory and historical gender research as well as the social and cultural history of pedagogy in European modernity .

life and work

Rita Casale studied philosophy, history and education in Bari , Paris and Freiburg im Breisgau . In 1997 she received her doctorate in philosophy with a thesis on the theoretical, historical and political significance of Nietzschean philosophy for the thinking of Martin Heidegger . With her dissertation, which was published in Italian in 1999 and 2005, she made a name for herself as a Nietzsche researcher. The German translation of the book was published in 2010 under the title Heideggers Nietzsche. Story of an Obsession published.

After holding positions at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , the Universities of Zurich , Vienna and Friborg , she has held a professorship for general educational science / theory of education at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal since 2009.

In the summer semester 2011, she served as Kollegiatin the Institute for Advanced Study of the University of Konstanz , a research project on culturalisation and Epistemologisierung feminist theory .

She has been co-editor and editor of the academic journal Feministische Studien since 2002 , has been on the advisory board of the yearbook for women's and gender studies in educational science since 2009 and is co-editor of the yearbook for historical educational research.

Rita Casale lives in Cologne.
