Rob Zwartjes

Rob Zwartjes (born October 4, 1932 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch martial artist. He graduated with the 9th Dan Wadō-Ryū in the DKV , 6th Dan Ryukyu Kobujutsu, 2nd Dan Judo and is the holder of the A-examiner license (for Dan-exams) in the DKV.

Short biography

Rob Zwartjes began to train judo and ju-jutsu at the age of 14 , later he came to karate, where he was one of the first students under Kono Teruo . He is considered the founder of Wadō-Ryū in the Netherlands. He also trained karate under Hironori Otsuka , Hakoishi Katsumi and Arakawa Toru as well as Kobujutsu under Gansho Inoue and his son Kisho Inoue , president of Ryukyu Kobujutsu Hozon Shinkokai. From 1971 to 1981 Rob Zwartjes was the national karate trainer for the Netherlands. He had his greatest success as coach of the Dutch national team in Tokyo in 1977 . In the individual (still without weight class) and in the team competition, he and his team won two gold medals. He was on the Technical Commission of the WKF for five years . Rob Zwartjes was a high school teacher for mathematics. After his retirement he successfully completed his studies in philosophy . When he is not out doing various karate courses, he lives in his house in the south of France.
