Life

Stumbling block for Robert Anasch in Hamburg-Uhlenhorst

Anasch came to Hamburg through a family move . Here he worked from January 28, 1938 as a shipbuilding assistant in the locksmith 's shop of the Blohm & Voss shipyard . He was a member of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). A resistance group led by Bernhard Bästlein , Franz Jacob and Robert Abshagen had been active in the large shipyard since 1940. They organized solidarity with forced laborers , carried out acts of sabotage in armaments production and wanted to mobilize the workers to resist the Nazi regime. Anasch joined them. On October 22, 1942, he was arrested on the premises of the shipyard and imprisoned in Fuhlsbüttel prison. Because he had lost his job at the same time, his wife had to look after himself and the six children with the help of welfare support . The Hanseatic Higher Regional Court charged Anasch on March 7, 1944 with “preparation for high treason ” and sentenced him to three and a half years in prison . Although he had been serving this sentence in the prison in Celle-Mühlhausen since April 1, 1944 , he was taken to the Bützow-Dreibergen prison for unknown reasons , where he was murdered on April 15, 1945.
