Robert Kaller

Robert Kaller (born July 17, 1958 in Neuss ) is a German visual artist and art educator.

Life

Kaller is born as the son of the school principal Wolfgang Kaller and his wife Anna. He attended the Albert-Einstein-Gymnasium Kaarst up to the Abitur . Kaller is a graduate of the first advanced art course at a grammar school in Germany under the direction of Peter von Malotki , a master student of Joseph Beuys .

After a remedial education in Saarbrücken (1978-1979) Kaller started in 1980 a study of sculpture at the Alanus University in Bonn with the sculptor Prof. Heinz-Georg Haussler . 1983 followed a six-month carpenter apprenticeship and then a study of painting with Margrit Jünemann . At the same time (1983–1985) Kaller did an educational training in Stuttgart .

Kaller is the father of three children.

In 1983 Kaller began his permanent activity as a freelance artist with commissions at home and abroad. From 1985 Kaller took on teaching positions in art history and the visual arts in Kiel (1985–1988), Graz (1988–1991) and Dortmund (1991–1994). This teaching activity is supported by the longstanding pedagogical collaboration with the Swiss pedagogue Ernst Bühler . In collaboration with the English water researcher John Wilkes, Kaller designed flowform fountains . In another cooperation with the Düsseldorf astrologer Rüdiger Seikritt, a relief is created as a visual experience of the zodiacal forces. The relief has been exhibited on the Dinslaken Sculpture Trail since 2001 . In 1994, Kaller founded the Robert Kaller Atelier in Dortmund . In the context of the studio, Kaller designed schools, kindergartens, old people's homes, curative educational institutions, city districts, hospitals, hotels, private houses, etc. Particularly noteworthy are the district designs of the Dortmund Brückstrasse district and in Essen -Altendorf.

In 2013, Kaller completed his Master of Fine Arts degree at Alanus University. Master's thesis is an art educational project in public space: Sculpture Park Iserlohn.

In 2015, Kaller opened a study site for mosaic construction in Dortmund.
