Robert Pavlicek (born May 31, 1912 ; † January 22, 1982 ) was an Austrian football player who won three championship titles with the SK Admira Vienna in the 1930s and was part of the national team .

Club career

Pavlicek began his career at SC Nord-Wien in 1912 , which was one of the leading clubs in the VAFÖ league. In the autumn of 1931 he moved to the large district neighbor Admira, where he immediately won a regular position as a right defender at Anton Janda's side, displacing the national player Karl Szoldatics from the team. Already in his first season the double succeeded when, in addition to winning the championship, the ÖFB Cup was won by a 6-1 victory over the Vienna AC .

Pavlicek played four more years with the Jedleseern, first with Janda and later with Otto Marischka as a defensive partner. During this time, Admira won two more championship titles and one cup victory. In 1934 she reached the final in the Mitropacup by winning over AC Napoli , Sparta Prague and Juventus Turin , where she was defeated by AGC Bologna after 3-2 in the first leg with 1-5. In the summer of 1936 Pavlicek left the club and moved to the French Division 1 , where he played for two seasons with Heinrich Hiltl for the Excelsior AC Roubaix .

After returning from France, he initially worked for his parent club again, from 1942 he then ran for the first division promoted WAC, where he met his old Admira colleagues Leopold Vogl and Karl Stoiber and immediately achieved the runner-up title. Even after the end of the war he stayed with the Prater team, where he competed in the top division until 1947.

National team

After Pavlicek had already played a B international match against Hungary on the side of Anton Janda in 1932, his debut in the A team took place in September 1933 in a 3: 3 against Czechoslovakia . After he had not belonged to the squad for the 1934 World Cup, he was taken into account again in the International Cup games from October this year , most recently in his sixth international match in October 1935, a 4-4 against Hungary.

Coaching career

After the end of his playing career, Pavlicek was coach of the first division club SC Rapid Oberlaa . After the team was relegated in 1950 and a return to promotion did not succeed, he left the club and then worked for the Lower Austrian club Union Stockerau .

In 1996 the Pavlicekgasse in Vienna- Floridsdorf (21st district) was named after him.
