Career
Robert Pecl was nicknamed "Eisenfuß" and "Roter Robert" because of his relentless style of play. He played for Rapid in the Bundesliga from 1986 to 1995 , including the last four years as captain, before he had to end his career at the age of 29 due to injury. He enjoyed great popularity and was voted Austria's Footballer of the Year by fans in 1990 and 1991 . As a regular player he successfully qualified for the World Cup in '90 , in the last friendly against the Netherlands Robert Pecl scored a goal in a 3-2 win.
