Robert Rex

Sir Robert Richmond Rex KBE , CMG , ( January 25, 1909 , † December 12, 1992 ) was a Niuean politician. He was Prime Minister of the country from the autonomy of the Pacific Island on October 19, 1974 until his death. He became Chief Minister on August 4, 1965, during the island's semi-autonomous period.

Although Rex was a staunch opponent of party politics, he was formally supported by the Niue People's Party (NPP) since it was founded in 1987 .

After the death of Robert Rex, Young Vivian took over the official business on a temporary basis. His son, Robert Rex Jr., is now involved in island politics.
