Roberto Amoroso

Roberto Amoroso , pseudonym Robert Lover (born January 7, 1911 in Naples , † February 3, 1994 ) was an Italian filmmaker.

Life

Amoroso produced some documentaries as early as the early 1940s. He shot material during the Neapolitan uprising in the short time of the German occupation when he worked for the Italian newsreel of LUCE . In 1947 he made his first feature film, Malaspina , for which he also wrote the screenplay and operated the camera. In the following years up to 1973, mostly low-budget comedies were created , which were set in the Neapolitan environment and thus found distribution and viewers especially in southern Italy. From 1964 onwards, some genre ware was also produced in trendy scenes from agent films to spaghetti westerns .

He shot his only film as a director (which he also wrote and produced himself) in 1954. Due soldi di felicità was a romantic comedy from the traditional Neapolitan milieu with influences from neorealism . One of Amorosos' stage names was Robert Lover .
