Rock'n'Roll Club DAMO is a dance sport club from Winterthur , which operates the tournament dance sports rock 'n' roll and also boogie-woogie .

history

The Rock'n'Roll Club DAMO was founded in Winterthur in 1977 on the initiative of Daniel and Montse Bachmann (who later also helped found the national associations) and initially consisted of three dance couples. In 1978 the Bachmann dance couple became Swiss champions and came third at the European Championships. In 1991 the club achieved bronze at the World Championships as a formation. In the same year, a youth department was also founded.

DAMO as the organizer of competitions

DAMO also organizes competitions: in 1984 the first joint Swiss championship between the two national associations was held in the Eulachhalle . In 1987 a world cup tournament was held in the Stadttheater Winterthur and a year later the rock'n'roll world championships for formations followed in the Casinotheater Winterthur . In 1995 the World Championship for individual pairs was held in the Saalsporthalle in Zurich. Other national and international tournaments followed: in 2013 the Rock'n'Roll World Championships in the Eulachhallen in Winterthur and in 2016 the World Championships for the Ladies Formation, also in the Eulachhallen Winterthur.
