Roland Böse , also Roland Boese , (born February 10, 1947 in Bingen ) is a former German rower . In 1967 he was eighth European champion .

Life

The rower from the Binger Rudergesellschaft 1911 won the German championship with the double scull in 1966 together with Claus Zimmer . In 1967 he won the championship in the four without a helmsman and was brought into the Germany eight by Karl Adam . After winning the German championship, he also took part in the 1967 European championship in Vichy. The Germany eight started with Horst Meyer , Dirk Schreyer , Rüdiger Henning , Ulrich Luhn , Wolfgang Hottenrott , Egbert Hirschfelder , Jörg Siebert , Roland Böse and helmsman Gunther Tiersch . This heavily resettled eighth won the European Championship ahead of the Soviet Union and the guest starters from the USA. It was the fourth European title in a row for the Germany eighth.

In 1968 Lutz Ulbricht sat for Ulrich Luhn in the Germany eight. Horst Meyer, Dirk Schreyer, Rüdiger Henning, Wolfgang Hottenrott, Lutz Ulbricht, Egbert Hirschfelder, Jörg Siebert, Roland Böse and helmsman Gunther Tiersch became German champions together. At the Olympic Games in Mexico City, the eighth qualified for the final with evil. After Roland Böse had difficulty swallowing, he turned to the team doctor Joseph Keul , who diagnosed an angina. Under the high altitude conditions of Mexico, the team management did not want to risk using a sick athlete. In the final, Niko Ott started for Böse and the Germany eight won the gold medal. Niko Ott gave Roland Böse his medal, and a medal was later minted for Niko Ott.

Roland Böse received the Silver Laurel Leaf for his sporting achievements on November 27, 1968 . After the Olympic Games in Mexico, he ended his career and did not get in the same boat for years.
