Roland Haendle
Roland Händle (* 11. October 1967 in Marburg ) is a former German lightweight - rowers . At the 1997 World Championships , he won a bronze medal.
Athletic career
The 1.80 m tall Roland Händle started at the Karlstadt rowing club and then switched to the Würzburg rowing club . In 1992 he finished sixth at the World Championships in Montreal with the lightweight four-man without a helmsman . The following year he was fourth at the 1993 World Championships with the lightweight eighth . At the World Championships in 1994 and 1995 , he and Christian Dahlke took fourth place in the lightweight two-man without helmsman .
In 1997, Händle returned to the lightweight foursome. Together with Marcus Mielke , Jan Herzog and Martin Weis, he won the bronze medal behind the Danes and the French at the world championships. In 1998 in Cologne , the German four-man finished in 13th place, at the 1999 World Championships the German crew rowed to 12th place. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , the German four-man competed with Roland Händle, Marcus Mielke, Thorsten Schmidt and Martin Weis and took third place. With Björn Spaeter for Martin Weis, the four finished last in the semi-finals and in the B-final.

At the time of his participation in the Olympics, Roland Händle was already a high school teacher. Roland's brother Christian Händle also took part in rowing in the Olympic Games.
