Roland Kibbee
Roland Kibbee (born February 15, 1914 in Monongahela , Pennsylvania , † August 5, 1984 in Encino , California ) was an American screenwriter and film producer who often gave his films a humorous touch.
Life
Kibbee began his screenwriting career in the mid-1940s. His best-known films include One Night in Casablanca (1946), The Red Corsair (1952), Southwest to Sonora (1966) and Valdez (1971). Until the early 1960s, he was mainly involved in feature films, after which his focus shifted to television and the production of several television series.
He also wrote for television series including The People at Shiloh Ranch and Columbo . Kibbee also developed the series The Second Man (1959-1961) and your appearance, Al Mundy (1968-1970).
In 1973 he directed the crime film The Midnight Man with Burt Lancaster . The production was - apart from a single episode of the series Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theater in 1966 - his only directorial work.
For the 1982 film Blade Runner , Kibbee wrote the voice-over texts, but without being named in the credits.
The New York Times recalled in its obituary that he had been awarded the Emmy three times in his long career .
