Rolf Idler

Rolf Idler (born July 1, 1943 in Schorndorf ; † April 12, 2012 in Egelsbach ) was a German actor who mainly worked on theater stages .

Life

Rolf Idler grew up in Heilbronn . After completing his apprenticeship as a carpenter , he took lessons from Heinz Dietrich Kenter at the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart . Studies in Salzburg followed with a successful final examination at the Mozarteum . Idler got his first engagement at the Städtische Bühnen Essen . Ernst Seiltgen , appointed director of the State Theater Württemberg-Hohenzollern as the successor to Christoph Groszer in 1967, engaged Idler to build up his ensemble. Idler made his debut in Tübingen as Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream and as Mickey in Eugene O'Neill's All Children of God Have Wings . Later had the title role there in Dürrenmatt's interpretation of King Johann . Together with Seiltgen, who took almost his entire ensemble with him, he moved to the Oberhausen Theater in 1970 .

Artistic director Günther Beelitz engaged him in 1971 for the Darmstadt State Theater , to which he belonged until 1975 and then again from 1992. Idler played as “Gretchen-Faust” alongside Ernst Fritz Fürbringer and Dieter Wernecke, one of the three Faust actors in the works Faust, staged as a complete piece by Istvan Bödy . In 1990 Idler played the Duke of Albany in the premiere of Wilson's production of King Lear , in which Marianne Hoppe played the title role.

Idler died at the age of 68 in his Egelsbach apartment of the consequences of a cancer that he was diagnosed in 2001. He was buried in his hometown Schorndorf.
