Rolf Schweighöfer (born March 1, 1939 ) is a former German soccer player . From 1966 to 1969, the center forward played 18 league games with six goals in the Bundesliga with SV Werder Bremen .

career

The striker began his high-class career from the 1959/60 season at 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 in the soccer Oberliga Süd , after having played for two years in the amateur team of the Green-Blacks in the 2nd amateur league of Lower Franconia. From 1959 to 1963 he completed 59 league games for the zero five and scored 27 goals. Schweighöfer made his debut on January 3, 1960 in a 1-1 draw at VfB Stuttgart (1: 1) on the side of other players like Robert Gehling , Heinz Krämer , Walter Lang , Alfred Burkhardt and Erwin Aumeier in the Oberliga Süd. In his second league game he scored his first goal in the Oberliga Süd in a 1-1 draw against Karlsruher SC (1: 1). At the end of the round he had played ten league games and scored five goals. He and his teammates ended the era of the first-class league on April 28, 1963 with a 1: 5 away defeat at 1. FC Nuremberg. The fiery center forward scored the consolation goal for Schweinfurt and had teammates like Günter Bernard (goalkeeper), Helmut Kraus , Rolf Kupfer and Günther Masurek by his side.

From the introduction of the Bundesliga in the 1963/64 season, the striker then played with Schweinfurt in the second-rate Regionalliga Süd . In his debut year 1963/64, the attacker completed 33 league games under coach Fritz Käser and scored 17 goals when he reached 7th rank. In the 1965/66 season , under coach Gunther Baumann, he was instrumental in ensuring that the Lower Franconians, who had been playing against relegation a year earlier, surprisingly achieved first place and were able to celebrate the championship in the south. With Kurt Dachlauer (19 goals), Manfred Berz (12 goals), Manfred Rühr (11 goals) and Masurek (10 goals) he had goal-threatening players at his side. Although Schweinfurt was the safest defense with 39 goals conceded, with 74 goals scored, it was a good offensive on the way to the championship. With 33: 1 points, the foundation for winning the title was laid in the home games. In the promotion round things didn't go well for the southern champion, Schweinfurt took last place. Schweighöfer had played three games, but he had not scored a goal. From 1963 to 1966 he had scored 40 goals for Schweinfurt in 79 regional league games.

After this season he moved to the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen . Among the Green-Whites from the Weserstadion also came to the 1966/67 season but Ole Bjørnmose , Werner Görts and by their own amateurs Carsten Baumann and Herbert Schröder . Schweighöfer made his Bundesliga debut under coach Günther Brocker on August 27, 1966, in a 1: 2 home defeat against VfB Stuttgart. As a center forward he formed the Werder attack with Gerhard Zebrowski , Arnold Schütz , John Danielsen and Klaus Hänel . After the 5-1 home win on September 24, 1966 against north rivals Hamburger SV, center forward Schweighöfer was noted in the Bundesliga chronicle : “And finally Schweighöfer, who had been so hapless in the weeks before, finally made his breakthrough in the attack center. His goal to 4-0 (52nd) in which he elegantly let the angular Horst get out was a feast for the eyes. Schweighöfer also played a big part in the 3-0 win by Schütz (42nd) with nice preparatory work. ”On October 8, he scored a 4-1 home win against FC Bayern Munich and on November 26th in a 4-4 home draw 1. FC Nürnberg, two goals. When Bremen, weakened as a substitute, scored a point at VfB with a 1-1 draw on January 21, 1967, Schweighöfer was Bremen's goal scorer. In the Bundesliga chronicle it is recorded: “Bremen came in the 68th minute to equalize. Sawitzki underwent a cross from Görts and Schweighöfer converted with a remarkable header. “The center forward played his 13th Bundesliga game for Bremen with six goals in Stuttgart, which ended his appearances for the next ten months. Lengthy injuries and new offensive competitors such as Bernd Rupp and Ole Björnmose, who started in his second year (all 34 games with eight goals), prevented the former Schweinfurters from playing in the Bundesliga again. Only one substitution on November 18, 1967 in a 4-1 home win over FC Bayern Munich is in Schweighöfer's record in the 1967/68 season. Rolf Schweighöfer's Bundesliga career ended with the last four league appearances in his third season in Bremen, 1968/69, under coach Fritz Langner .

For the round 1969/70 he moved back to the Regionalliga Süd for SpVgg Fürth , which he belonged to for a year and did not score a goal in nine missions. He could no longer build on his previous achievements.
