Romeo Rivers
Romeo Norman Rivers (born March 28, 1907 in Springfield , Manitoba , † May 4, 1986 in Winnipeg , Manitoba) was a Canadian ice hockey player . At the Olympic Winter Games in 1932 , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.
Career
Romeo Rivers began his career as a junior ice hockey player with the Winnipeg Victorias and Elmwood Millionaires, for which he was active between 1924 and 1927. In the senior sector, he then played for the Winnipeg Eaton's and the Winnipeg CPR. In 1931 he won the Allan Cup , the Canadian amateur championship, with the Winnipeg Hockey Club . At the 1932 Winter Games, he represented Canada with the Winnipeg Hockey Club. He later took part in the 1935 World Cup with the Winnipeg Monarchs in 1935. In 2004 he was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame.
International
For Canada Rivers took part in the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , where he won the gold medal with his team. At the 1935 World Cup , he and his team also won the gold medal.
