Ronald Bellstedt

Ronald Bellstedt (born May 21, 1957 in Naumburg (Saale) ) is a German conservationist , taxidermist and entomologist , particularly in the fields of dipterology and coleopterology .

Life

Bellstedt grew up in Bothenheilingen and passed the Abitur in 1975 in Bad Langensalza . He was trained as a zoological taxidermist at the Phyletic Museum of the University of Jena and has been a research assistant at the Museum der Natur Gotha since 1977 , where he founded the zoology youth group in 1979 . He is the author of over 200 publications on entomology and nature conservation in Thuringia.

He is also involved in nature conservation on a voluntary basis, for example through reports on the protection of nature reserves , participation in directories and red lists of Thuringian insects, as well as through numerous lectures and guided tours. He is also a founding member and chairman of the Gotha district association in the German Nature Conservation Union and the Thuringian Entomologists Association.

Honors

  • 2013: Meigen Medal of the German Society for General and Applied Entomology
  • 2018: Thuringian Nature Conservation Prize in the category "Communication of species knowledge"
  • 2019: Myconius Medal from the City of Gotha for volunteer work
