Ronny Nikol (born July 11, 1974 in East Berlin ) is a former German soccer player .

career

Ronny Nikol, who originally wanted to become a track and field athlete at Dynamo Adlershof , only started playing football at Elektroapparatewerk Treptow when he was 16 . From there he moved to FC Berlin , with whom he was promoted to the Regionalliga Nordost in 1994 . It was there that 1. FC Nürnberg noticed him and brought him to the 2. Bundesliga for the 1995/96 season . In the crisis-ridden old master, he was initially unable to assert himself and was only used regularly shortly before the end of the season. However, he could not prevent relegation to the regional league either. In the regional league he then played no role and only came to a single use.

He then moved to 1. FC Union Berlin in 1997 . In six years at 1. FC Union Berlin, he quickly developed a high profile on the left, both in defense and in midfield. Even after he left in 2003, he is fondly remembered there and in December 2006 came ninth in the selection of the most valuable 1. FC Union player of all time. In 2001 he was able to celebrate the sensational entry into the final of the DFB Cup with Union and in the same year he was able to look forward to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. For him personally, this also meant returning to the second division after five years. And in the second attempt he was able to establish himself. He played all 34 games, only missed two minutes by being substituted on the first matchday and thus contributed in particular to the relegation of the Berliners. Also in the following season 2002/03 he was one of the absolute leading players. When Union got into financial difficulties, he was the first player to agree to a five percent wage waiver. But despite being relegated again, Nikol decided to move to Energie Cottbus within the league . When relegated to the Bundesliga, he hoped to play the promotion.

In his first season at FC Energie Cottbus he was also part of the team. Problems then arose during the 2004/05 season . He initially lost his regular seat and then appeared for a training session in December under the influence of alcohol. Then coach Petrik Sander suspended him from training. Nikol was no longer used for the Lausitzers. On February 15, 2005, his contract was terminated prematurely.

Rot-Weiss Essen took the chance and signed the contractless Nikol for the 2005/06 season. Although Essen only played in the Regionalliga Nord, it was a promotion favorite. So Nikol had the chance to return to the 2nd division soon. Up to the 28th matchday he contributed a lot as a regular player, but then fell out of the season finale due to an injury. But even so, Essen managed to get promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga.

He has played a total of 121 games in the second division so far, scoring two goals.

For the 2007/08 season, Nikol moved to the regional division Dynamo Dresden . There he played a total of 83 league games in the following three years, in which he scored a goal before moving to league rivals FC Carl Zeiss Jena for the 2010/11 season. After only one season, he left Jena and signed a one-year contract with AK 07 in his hometown in summer 2011 . In 2012 he joined the Berlin champions and league promoted VSG Altglienicke . In 2013 he went to the Brandenburg state division MSV 19 Rüdersdorf .
