Rosannagh "Rosie" Jean MacLennan (born August 28, 1988 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian trampoline gymnast . She won the gold medal at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.

Career

MacLennan first took part in the 2005 World Trampoline Championships , where she and her partner Karen Cockburn immediately won the silver medal in the synchronized competition. At the home world championships in Québec two years later, the duo became world champions in the same discipline, and MacLennan also won the silver medal with the team and the bronze medal in the individual. This also enabled her to qualify for the Olympic Games. That same year MacLennan won silver in singles at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro. In 2007 she received one of the Ontario Sports Awards for her achievements .

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, she made it into the final of the trampoline competition, where she only finished seventh. At the 2009 World Championships, she won silver in the synchronized competition and bronze with the team, before winning the bronze medal in the individual a year later. In 2011, the Canadian again won silver in synchronized gymnastics and bronze with the team at the World Championships, and she was also able to win the silver medal in the individual. For the Pan American Games 2011 in Guadalajara , Mexico , her teammate Karen Cockburn was initially nominated as a representative of Canada for the trampoline competitions, but she could not make the final due to an illness. MacLennan, who was second behind her colleague in qualifying, won her first gold medal at the Pan American Games in the final by almost three points. This also qualified her for the 2012 Olympic Games.

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 , MacLennan was initially in fourth place after qualifying and thus moved into the final. There she achieved 57,305 points in a faultless exercise, which was a new personal high score for her. After none of the Chinese athletes who competed after her could achieve a better result, MacLennan won the Olympic gold medal by more than half a point. It won the only gold medal for Canada at the 2012 Olympics.

The following year she was the first time world champion in singles, with the team she won silver. Two more silver medals followed in 2014 , this time in an individual and a synchronized competition. While she stayed at the World Cup in 2015 with two fourth places without a medal, she won the gold medal for the second time at the Pan American Games in 2015 in her native Toronto.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , MacLennan managed to secure the gold medal again. She survived the qualification in third place before ending up in the final with 56,465 points in front of Bryony Page and Li Dan .
