Roswitha Aulenkamp

Roswitha Aulenkamp (born July 20, 1946 in Ziegenhain ) is a German composer , piano teacher and pianist .

Life

From the age of 4 she received piano lessons from her grandmother, the concert singer and music teacher Johanna Pfaff . Then at the age of six she taught the pianist Dr. Willy Wölbing from Bad Hersfeld . At the age of 7 she made her debut in Bad Hersfeld and Schwalmstadt .

Roswitha Aulenkamp studied music in Kassel with Kurt Herfurth and in Frankfurt am Main with Prof. Gisela Sott . She passed the second state examination in music education with a major in piano with distinction. Then she took several master classes, among others with Nikita Magaloff and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling .

From 1969 to 1973 she received decisive suggestions from her work in the team from the founder of the documenta Arnold Bode in Kassel. During these years the first own compositions were created . In 1969 she set the "Audience Insults" after Peter Handke to music . She was involved in founding the A&M group.

Her concert at documenta 5 in Kassel in 1972 with a contribution to new music received a lot of attention . In 1972 she campaigned against the threatened closure of the Kassel Music Academy. It was during these years that she wrote her first compositions, such as the setting of Peter Handke's “Audience Insults”. From 1976 to 1986 she was a piano lecturer at the Music Academy in Kassel. She was a member of the state examination commission and a juror for “ Jugend musiziert ”.

Since 1980 she has held numerous events on the subject of “women composers” in the form of chamber , solo and portrait concerts. In the early 1980s she finally discovered the compositions of the Darmstadt composer Barbara Heller , and the then completely unknown works by Viera Janárčekovás from Homberg . With Christel Nies , she designed and organized the international female composers festival “Vom Schweigen Befreit” in 1987 , 1990 and 1993 in Kassel. She co-founded the International Women Composers Archive in Kassel.

She founded the ensemble “L'Avantgarde” with the oboist Julien Singer . She gave numerous pioneering concerts in the form of workshop character, premieres of new and old music by female composers.

She also worked with the writer Christine Brückner and her husband the writer Otto Heinrich Kühner . Various events on word and music followed . She played in Rocca de Papa on the occasion of the 80th birthday of the writer Luise Rinser and a short time later in 1991 in the Villa Borghese in Rome . Further concert tours have taken her to France , Sweden , Russia , Ukraine , Italy , Turkey and Syria .

Since 1992 Roswitha Aulenkamp has taken up her own composing activities again and presented it in some highly regarded concerts.

In 1999 she founded the piano music workshop with an integrated children's piano school, which she has since directed alongside her teaching activities as a lecturer at the University of Kassel, and with whose students she regularly organizes concerts for children and young people.

Roswitha Aulenkamp is married to the tenor and vocal teacher Theodor HC Hoffmeyer .
