Royal Scottish Academy

The Royal Scottish Academy is an independent, private institution run by eminent artists and architects . The academy was founded in 1826 by eleven artists.

The academy is located in the Royal Scottish Academy Building in Edinburgh , which is on Princes Street . The building, originally designed by William Henry Playfair , has been renovated as part of Project Playfair and connected underground to the National Gallery of Scotland . Both buildings are used by the National Galleries of Scotland .
