Ru Kuwahata

Ru Kuwahata (* 20th century ) is a Japanese film director , screenwriter and animator for short films .

Career

Ru Kuwahata was born in Japan and attended from 2007 to 2010 in New York City , the Parsons School of Design and received her Bachelor's in Baltimore at the Maryland Institute College of Art . Kuwahata began working on the film crew in 2008 , including an animator on the television film Classical Baby (I'm Grown Up Now): The Poetry Show . She made her directorial debut in 2010 with the film Something Left, Something Taken , for which she was also responsible as a producer and wrote the script. She also worked on the films Between Times and Perfect Houseguest . For Kuwahata's involvement in the film Negative Space , she and Max Porter received an Oscar nomination in the category Best Animated Short Film at the 2018 Academy Awards . The stop-motion film was produced in France but was recorded in the original English language. However, the Academy Awards went to Glen Keane and Kobe Bryant for their short film Dear Basketball , which shows Bryant's childhood dreams through to his 20-year career.

In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.

She and Porter live in Baltimore , which is where their animation studio Tiny Inventions is based. They also work together on commercials for Ben & Jerry’s, among others .
