Rubén Tierrablanca González

Rubén Tierrablanca González OFM (born August 24, 1952 in Cortázar , Guanajuato , Mexico ) is a Mexican Roman Catholic religious and Apostolic Vicar of Istanbul and Apostolic Administrator of the Istanbul Apostolic Exarchate of the Greeks .

Life

Rubén Tierra Blanca González joined the Congregation of the Franciscan at and studied in Querétaro and El Paso . On August 2, 1977, he laid the profession from and received on 29 June 1978, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After two years in training the next generation of the order and in pastoral care, he went to Rome for further studies. In 1985 he obtained a licentiate in Biblical Exegesis at the Pontifical Biblical Institute . Then he was professor of exegesis and master's degree for theology students in El Paso until 1990 and provincial definitor and responsible for training and studies in the religious province from 1990 to 1992 .

In 1992 he became rector of the Antonianum Pontifical University in Rome and was Guardian of the General Curia of the Franciscans from 1997 to 2003 . Since 2003 he has been Guardian of the Franciscan Convention and pastor in Istanbul.

On 16 April 2016 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Tubernuca and Apostolic Vicar of Istanbul, Apostolic Administrator of the Greek Catholic Apostolic Exarchate Istanbul. He was ordained bishop by the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches , Leonardo Sandri , on June 11th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Izmir , Lorenzo Piretto OP , and the Vicar Apostolic of Anatolia , Paolo Bizzeti SJ .
