Rudecindo Ortega Masson

Rudecindo Ortega Masson (* 3. June 1889 in Temuco , Chile ; † 12. October 1962 ) was the first two emergency special sessions of the so-called a Chilean politician and President of the General Assembly of the United Nations in the year 1956th

He held the office from November 1, 1956 to November 12, 1956. The UN General Assembly met due to the Suez crisis and decided to send the United Nations' first peacekeeping force, the United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF) .

Ortega Masson studied teaching at the Instituto Pedagógico and graduated in 1920. He then taught at the “Instituto Nacional” in Santiago de Chile and from 1923 at the “Liceo” in Temuco. Between 1925 and 1941 he was an MP for Temuco. For 10 years he was a member and president of the school committee in parliament.

Ortega Masson was Minister of Education between 1938 and 1940.
