Ruhr3.de

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ruhr3.de project pursues the goal of cooperation between the municipalities of the Ruhr area in the field of 3D geographic information. The initiative for this came about after the city of Essen , representing the Ruhr area, was awarded the European Capital of Culture 2010. The project is supported by the municipalities , the districts and the Ruhr Regional Association . List of cooperation partners see below

The primary goal is the creation of a digital 3D geodata base for the Ruhr area . The building geometries from the automated property map serve as a source for this . These are enriched, for example, with orthophotos and terrain model data contributed by the former state survey office of North Rhine-Westphalia (today Geobasis.NRW). Applications based on the database are to be developed. Cooperation with industry and research is definitely welcome. An essential point is the possibility of sharing and displaying the 3D data across administrative boundaries. The data link feature of the municipal 3D city models, which are managed quite heterogeneously in the participating municipalities, is the use of the CityGML 3D standard .

The cooperation agreement concluded in February 2008 was initially limited to December 31, 2010, but is then automatically extended for a further year with a 3-month notice period at the end of the year.

Each partner bears their own costs.

A central steering committee, the general assembly and various working groups are planned as committees. The following working groups are planned or have already started their activity: AK Technology, AK Norms and Standards ruhr3.de, AK Touristik / Ruhr2010, AK District Cities, AK Universities, AK Press, AK GIS Companies, AK ÖbVI, AK Business Models, AK Promotion / Sponsorship
