geography

Social

There is little social tension in Ruwa. Some church projects support schools, hospitals, agricultural training and marketing of crops. There are also social problems here due to the expropriation of large white farmers, but far less excessively than in other parts of the country. The intimidation of MDC supporters by ZANU , which was directed by Robert Mugabe , and massive brawls, especially in the neighboring town of Mabvuku, was officially reprimanded by Amnesty International and SADC .

The Kufunda learning center

The Kufunda Learning Center was established in 2002 to provide the rural population with an environment in which to gain confidence. Today Kufunda is an independent village near Ruwa, which is being developed by 28 volunteers. In Kufunda there are usually two-week courses in which the participants from all over Zimbabwe are taught different basic skills such as self-management, basic economic knowledge, soap making, yoga and philosophy. There are also projects on HIV and AIDS as well as the environment and ecology through education funds .

art

The arts and crafts develop rapidly on the basis of Shona sculptures, especially the internationally highly regarded family of sculptors Nicholas Mukomberanwas . The yard of the sculptor Mike Munyaradzi in Ruwa is the seat of the artists' association " Friends Forever ".
