Career
Sébastien Bordeleau began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior League Quebec Major Junior Hockey League , in which he was active from 1991 to 1995 for the Hull Olympiques . After two seasons with over 50 points, he was also selected by the Montréal Canadiens in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft in the third round in 73rd place. For the 1995/96 season he was brought into the American Hockey League with the Fredericton Canadiens , the Montreal farm team . His decent performance there were rewarded with four NHL appearances. The following year he played half the season for the Montreal Canadiens and from the 1997/98 season he had his regular place in the NHL. Before the 1998/99 season , he was transferred to the newly inducted Nashville Predators so the Habs avoided the Predators selecting Swedish defender Peter Popovic in the 1998 NHL Expansion Draft . Bordeleau stayed in Nashville for three years. His first season in which he was the fourth best scorer of the team and got 40 scorer points was particularly good. He moved to Minnesota Wild where he was not particularly successful and was often used in the farm team. In the 2001/02 season he tried again with the Phoenix Coyotes , but he only played six games there. Mostly he played again in the AHL with the Springfield Falcons .
In the summer of 2002, Bordeleau decided to move to Europe and played for SC Bern in the Swiss National League A for the next seven years . In Bern he was one of the crowd's favorites and won the Swiss championship title with his team in the 2003/04 season . After two very decent seasons, he disappointed in the 2004/05 season . A year later, however, he came back with his usual strength and was not only the best scorer in the Bernese, but also the fourth best scorer in the league. On May 14, 2009 he announced that he wanted to leave SC Bern and shortly thereafter signed a contract with league competitor EHC Biel . With the Bielers succeeded in the playoff qualification in the 2011/12 season , in which they were subject to EV Zug in the first round . Following this series, the French-Canadian ended his active career.
Bordeleau is a French-Canadian citizen. His strengths lie in the areas of face-off play , fighting power and scoring goals.
