The South African women's national soccer team represents South Africa in international women's soccer . The national team reports to the South African Football Association and has been coached by Vera Pauw since 2014 . The South African selection has never participated in a World Cup, but was able to qualify for the 2019 World Cup finals in 2018. At the African Championships, she finished second five times. The South African team has - in comparison to most other African teams - already played several games against non-African teams. Here, however, only reach five wins, 7 March 2009 at 2: 0 in Nicosia against Scotland , on 15 July 2009 in Amsterdam against Switzerland (3: 2), 4 March 2012 and 11 March 2013 Paralimni against Northern Ireland (2: 0 and 2: 1) and on March 6, 2015 in Paralimni against Belgium (1: 0). In 2011 the team was able to qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time . There the team met Canada (0: 3) and, for the first time, world champions Japan (0: 0) and Sweden (1: 4). As the bottom of the group, the team was eliminated after the preliminary round. The only goal for the South Africans was scored by Portia Modise , who has now retired after 124 games.
