The term southwest or southwest (abbreviation SW) denotes a secondary direction that is the bisector between the directions south and west . In the sense of an azimuth or a course , southwest is exactly 225 degrees . The sun is at 15:00 ( solar time ) as in the southwest (depending on location and time of year ). The adjective for this is southwest .
