The Social Work Group Lörrach (SAK) is a registered non-profit association that was founded in 1969. The SAK has been located in the old waterworks in Lörrach since 2004. SAK eV runs school, cultural, social and ecological projects with SAK Arbeit gGmbH and SAK Wasserwerk gGmbH. The social work of the SAK was one of the decisive factors for the award of Lörrach as a social city in 2010 . The SAK takes over the organization of the regular international youth camps with participants from Lörrach's partner cities. The SAK is working with training companies in southern Baden in a European training initiative for those willing to train from the south. The SAK Lörrach is regarded by mayors and district administrators in the border triangle as an exemplary model of success in youth care. During his visit in December 2013, Wolf-Dietrich Hammann , Ministerial Director in the Ministry of Integration of the Baden-Württemberg state government, described the SAK Lörrach as an exemplary place for youth education, and the Bundestag member Armin Schuster described the SAK's Lörracher Weg as a model of inclusion.

Emergence

When the theology professor Dieter Walther founded the Social Work Group (SAK) at what was then the Lörrach University of Education in 1968 , he saw it as a bridge between the establishment and rebellious youth. It was founded on the initiative of five people who initially volunteered. The SAK has received long-term support from the Rotary Club Lörrach, which has financially supported the SAK's social projects for more than 35 years. From the initiative of socially committed students, an institution with a wide range of international offers in the cultural, social and ecological area has emerged in 45 years. Today the SAK has the locations Lörrach , Rheinfelden (Baden) and Mulhouse in Alsace, other locations are being discussed.

In addition to the city of Lörrach , the district of Lörrach and the Protestant regional church of Baden , clients are also companies, schools, associations in the triangle of Germany, France and Switzerland. The three key words of activity are work, education and personal development .

For more than three decades, the deacons Herbert Sitterle and Jürgen Wiesenhütter, as managing directors, shaped the work of the SAK. The non-profit GmbHs Arbeit and Altes Wasserwerk were founded under her leadership . In cooperation with vocational schools and the GAL Job Center Lörrach, young people who were difficult to place were very successfully introduced to vocational training, most of which were taken over by the companies involved after completing their training. Over the years, international tasks for integration and international youth exchanges were added. In 2007, both men were awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for their exemplary youth work. Jürgen Wiesenhütter was also awarded the crown cross of the Baden regional church.

organization

The SAK was founded in 2012-2016 by the two managing directors Dr. Jürgen Rausch and Christoph Zacheus-Hufeisen headed it. Jürgen Rausch has been the sole managing director since 2017. Over one hundred full-time and part-time employees are employed in the numerous work areas (2014)

The SAK has had a contract with the city of Lörrach for years to partially finance the youth work in the old waterworks, the Salzert meeting and the school support. The two positions of the SAK managing directors are financed by the Evangelical Church of Baden . The financial budget of the SAK Group in 2013 was given as around 2.5 million euros.

In the areas of employment initiatives, the SAK works with numerous companies and the employment agency. The SAK applies to many sponsors for funding for the numerous international youth exchanges. In the annual youth encounters with the partner cities of Lörrach, which are also supported by the Lörrach International Association, the financing and grant options of the European Union are used very successfully.

education

The subject of school and school support originally began with catching up or accompanying upbringing, for example help with homework. As a result of the changed situation at the schools, the tasks and offers also changed. Since 2013, the SAK has also been involved in the education project Fit for Work at the Lörrach community schools .

Employment Initiative

In many fields of work a training location for apprentices, interns or young people in the employment initiative. If you had good experiences with the renovation of the old fire station or the old waterworks, some things have become more difficult today due to the separation of the employment agency and GAL and the central or very short-term tendering. Nevertheless, in 2014 there were 26 young people in training at SAK Lörrach.

Migrants

The SAK leadership made increased efforts to educate migrants as early as 1990. Refugees were looked after in the residential complex in Wölblin and went through a difficult process there with the non-integrated youth. "A process that has become an ongoing task.

ecology

In the beginning, the aim was to show the children how a product is made: apple juice in autumn. You saw the beautiful orchards and paid attention to their importance for ecology, tourism and culture. Today the SAK produces ecologically correct apple juice itself, has it bottled in regional markets and sells it regionally.

International youth work

Regular meetings take place with young people from Lörrach and Lörrach's partner cities Sens , Senigallia , Chester , Meerane , Village-Neuf , Edirne , Lubliniec and Wyschhorod , which are organized by Lörrach International and organized in large numbers by Eric Bintz at the SAK Lörrach.
