SORA Institute for Social Research and Consulting is an Austrian , private social research institute. SORA is managed by the founders Günther Ogris and Christoph Hofinger and employs around 20 people.

The institute researches mainly in the areas of elections & politics, work, housing and quality of life. In Austria, SORA is known for its projections and voter flow analyzes on election evenings on ORF .

SORA is financed through contract research. Important clients are the EU Commission, ministries, state governments, interest groups , private companies and the media.

The institute is based in Vienna and cooperates with Austrian and European research institutes, including the "SoQua" course for graduated social scientists, and with the European Association of Political Consultants (EAPC), whose annual conference SORA 2010 was held in Vienna.

The Austrian Democracy Monitor (ÖDM) was collected for the first time by SORA in 2018 . As a social science measuring instrument, the ÖDM is supposed to collect the "quality of democracy" on the basis of statistical data and surveys. The population survey carried out for this is based on a representative sample of around 2,000 people. The results of the ÖDM are to be published annually, the first results appeared on October 12, 2018.
