The SPÖ Burgenland is the national organization of the Social Democratic Party of Austria in the Austrian state of Burgenland . The party has its headquarters in Eisenstadt's Johann-Permayer-Strasse .

Since the state elections in 2020 , the Burgenland SPÖ has 19 seats and thus the absolute majority in the Burgenland state parliament . She rules there in a sole government , the state government Doskozil II . In addition, the state party sends two members to the Austrian Federal Council , Günter Kovacs and Sandra Gerdenitsch .

For the SPÖ Burgenland, two members of the Austrian National Council , Christian Drobits and Maximilian Köllner, have sat since the 2019 National Council election .

State chairman is the current governor of Burgenland, Hans Peter Doskozil .

history

The BF ("Burgenland Freedom" or later: "Burgenland Leisure") was a Burgenland weekly newspaper. It was founded in November 1921 and was the party newspaper of the SPÖ Burgenland until the end of 2006.

The Burgenland SPÖ, like the Federal SPÖ, maintains sub-organizations. Membership in one of the sub-organizations of the SPÖ Burgenland usually entails membership in the state party and also in the federal party. The following regional organizations of the SPÖ sub-organizations exist in Burgenland:

SJ Burgenland

The federal organization, the Socialist Youth of Austria (SJ) was founded in an inn in Vienna-Margareten in November 1894. The current state chairman is Lejla Visnjic, the state secretary is Simon Luckinger. The state chairwoman in the SJ Burgenland represents the organization externally, while the state secretary takes on the organizational management and conducts the business of the organization.

SPÖ women Burgenland

The founding of the SPÖ Women as a federal organization took place on September 5, 1945. The Burgenland regional organization is chaired by the current Deputy Governor Astrid Eisenkopf ; Sandra Gerdenitsch, Member of the Federal Council, is the managing director .
