ST Engineering (Singapore Technologies Engineering) is a Singaporean defense and technology company. The group of companies, which is majority-owned by the state holding Temasek , develops and produces land, air and marine-based defense systems and offers services in these areas. Furthermore, civil products, such as software solutions for the Internet of Things , are being developed. ST Engineering describes itself as one of the world's largest providers of MRO services (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) for aircraft from civil aviation. Over 50% of the group's sales are generated with civilian products and services.

The company Chartered Industries of Singapore was established in 1967 to 5.56 × 45 mm -ammo for M16 rifles of the Singapore Armed Forces to produce. In 1968 and 1969, the companies Singapore Shipbuilding and Engineering and Singapore Electronic & Engineering were founded, which represent the predecessors of today's corporate divisions ST Marine and ST Electronics and for the construction and repair of ships for the Navy and the development of electronic components for the Armed forces should serve. Also in 1969, together with the Lürssen shipyard, the first major tender for the development and construction of four gunboats on behalf of the Singapore Ministry of Defense was won. In 1971, the Singapore Automotive Engineering division (now ST Kinetics ) was formed for the maintenance and repair of heavy military land vehicles and in 1975 the subsidiary Singapore Aerospace Maintenance Co. (now ST Aerospace ) was founded, which took on maintenance tasks for the aircraft of the Singapore armed forces which had been taken over by Lockheed Aircraft Services Company up to that point. From 1990 the corporate identity was promoted, whereby all corporate divisions adopted uniform names and logos. Around the same time, a partial privatization of the company began by going public on the Singapore stock exchange . This upheaval was accompanied by a general diversification of the business and a further advance into civilian business areas. It was not until 1997 that the four companies ST Aerospace, ST Shipbuilding & Engineering (today ST Marine), ST Electronic & Engineering (today ST Electronics) and ST Automotive (today ST Kinetics) became Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd. merged. ST Engineering immediately became one of the largest companies listed on the Singapore Exchange.
