The SV Weil is a football club with about 670 members from Weil am Rhein . Since the 2019/20 season he has been playing as a promoted player in the Association League South Baden .

history

On March 6, 1910, FC Friedlingen was founded in 1910. After the Weiler FV was dissolved, the association was renamed SV Weil 1910 on April 23, 1937. After the Second World War , the association was dissolved by the French military authorities. Members of TV, SV and Reichsbahn-SV founded the sports association Weil on June 29, 1946. On December 10, 1949, FC Friedlingen was re-established. On April 14, 1950, their football department became self-employed as SV Weil 1910. From 1950 to the 1980s, SV Weil was mainly active in the highest amateur league, with the longest series lasting from 1969 to 1978, when they played continuously in the 1st amateur league in South Baden .

In 1984 they rose to the now founded Oberliga Baden-Württemberg , at the end of the following season the team had to relegate with 18 points scored as bottom of the table. With the simultaneous win of the South Baden Cup in the final against the Offenburg FV (1-0) in the same year, the club's biggest success so far was achieved. With the victory in the association cup, SV Weil qualified for the DFB Cup 1985/86 . Here they were defeated by Bundesliga club Werder Bremen 0: 7.

In the following years, the club rose in the meantime to the district league. From 2004, SV Weil played continuously in the Association League South Baden until it was relegated to State League 2 in 2014. For the 2019/20 season, the relegation was promoted to the Association League South Baden.

Trainer

At the beginning of the 2009/10 season, the former professional of SC Freiburg , Maximilian Heidenreich , was signed up as coach . In the 2011/12 season, the hamlet of Matthias Chrobok took over as coach, but was replaced by Kurt Schwald after one season. On March 23, 2015, SV Weil parted ways with Kurt Schwald and Maximilian Heidenreich took over the coaching position again. Andreas Schepperle has been training the club that has been promoted to the association league since the 2019/20 season.

Youth work

SV Weil has teams in the ages U9 to U19. In addition, SV Weil has a cooperation with FC Basel , some players (including Matthias Baron ) made the leap to Swiss cooperation partner in professional football. With Lukas Spalvis , a player from SV Weil made it to the SC Freiburg football school ; today he is a player in the German third division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern .

Every year on the carnival weekend, the sponsoring association for youth work of SV Weil organizes an indoor tournament for U10 and U12 juniors. The indoor tournament will take place in 2011 for the 40th time. The youth teams of the Bundesliga clubs such as B. FC Bayern Munich , Borussia Dortmund , 1. FC Cologne , MSV Duisburg , Karlsruher SC , VfB Stuttgart , 1. FSV Mainz 05 , 1. FC Kaiserslautern , Eintracht Frankfurt , Hertha BSC, FC Basel , Brondby Copenhagen, Rapid Vienna, Southend United and many others. The tournament is one of the most demanding indoor junior tournaments in the age groups of E and D juniors in Germany.

The cup will be held in the sports hall of the Markgrafenschule in Weil am Rhein. The sports hall offers space for around 1000 spectators. The playing field dimensions are approx. 23 × 47 meters.
