Sašo Komovec made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup for Yugoslavia on March 24, 1990 . In Planica he reached the 40th place in jumping from the large hill. At the Junior World Championships in 1990 in Štrbské Pleso , he won the bronze medal with the team from the K88 hill. In 1991 Komovec was part of the first national team of the newly founded Slovenian Ski Association. From 1992 he was a permanent member of the newly created Ski Jumping Continental Cup . At the same time, he was repeatedly nominated for individual World Cup competitions. On March 28, 1993 he succeeded in doing so in Planica with the 9th place for the first time to win World Cup points, with which he finished 46th in the overall World Cup ranking at the end of the 1992/93 World Cup season. Subsequently, he played two more World Cup competitions, but remained without a point. There were also no successes in the Continental Cup, which is why Komovec ended his active ski jumping career in 1996.
