action

The film follows the 55-year-old father of six, Salim Muhammad, from the Indian city of Kolkata . Since 1965 he has earned his living showing films in a kind of mobile cinema. This consists of a hand-operated film projector (with car light bulbs as a light source) and a box with openings on the side through which you can view the film that is projected into the interior of the box. The entire apparatus is mounted on a handcart and is already 100 years old. Salim Muhammad inherited them from his father. He pushes the cart through his neighborhood, stops if necessary and shows his films. The films come from cinemas, where they were disposed of as waste. Salim collects these film snippets and uses them to edit his own new films. In the meantime, his fund has grown to over fifty films and his sons are also involved in the business. Salim hopes that they will continue this tradition later.
