Sam Abell
Sam Abell (born February 19, 1945 in Sylvania , Ohio ) is an American photographer and now lives in Virginia .
Sam Abell learned his trade from his father, who was also a photographer, and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1969 with a bachelor's degree . He has worked for the magazine “ National Geographic Society ” since 1970 and has so far designed over 20 reports on various topics such as different cultures and landscapes.
In 1990 Abell's book “Stay this moment” was published by Eastman- Kodak with Thomas Grant . In the last few years Sam Abell has published another 5 books on subjects such as Civil War , Gardens , the West of the USA, Ireland and the West Coast of Australia .
Abell often uses the long shot with a wide-angle lens . His pictures show people in their environment and how they deal with it. One area of interest is the socially critical view, especially with impressive portraits. An outstanding piece of work is a report on the island group "New Hybrids", created in 1973 .
