Coat of arms, flag and official seal
The joint municipality has a coat of arms, flag and official seal. The coat of arms was designed by Dr. Ulf-Dietrich Korn , Munster.
Description of the coat of arms : "A black chain in silver as a bar, accompanied by a six-spoke red straightening wheel at the top, and at the bottom by three green holly leaves sprouting from a transverse branch stump."
- meaning
The integrated community of Neuenkirchen consists of the member communities Merzen, Neuenkirchen and Voltlage. The eponymous member community popularly uses the nickname “in the sleeve” after the holly (“sleeve”) that is common there to distinguish between places of the same name. - Three holly leaves were taken from their coat of arms as a symbol for the joint community, which consists of three member communities, whereby the leaves sprouting from a branch symbolize the growing together of the parts into a new, larger unit.
The chain comes from the coat of arms of the municipality of Merzen. It is linked to the legend that two local residents who were miraculously rescued from Turkish captivity hung their chains on an oak tree near the church.
The straightening wheel is the traditional attribute of St. Catherine. She is the church patroness of the Voltlage community; the broken wheel is next to three ears of wheat in the coat of arms of the municipality. At the same time, the red six-spoke wheel can indicate that the combined community is located in the former Prince Diocese of Osnabrück, whose silver coat of arms was a red wheel.
The colors black and green are taken from the coats of arms of the sub-communities; Black is the color of the wheel in the coat of arms of the municipality of Voltlage and the district of Osnabrück. The green of the Ilex leaves also indicates the agricultural character of the integrated community.
Town twinning
The small Polish town of Jeziorany has been a partner municipality of the joint municipality since August 2006 .

The federal highway 218 touches the area in the north and crosses the place Merzen.
Bus transport
