Samuel Magrill

Samuel Magrill (* 1952 ) is an American composer and music teacher .

Magrill studied composition at the Oberlin Conservatory and at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign . He has taught music theory and composition at the University of Wyoming and California State University, Long Beach and, since 1988, at the University of Central Oklahoma , where he is a professor and composer in residence .

The more than 100 compositions by Magrill include works for solo instruments, chamber music, orchestral works and operas. He received u. a. Awards from the National Endowment for the Arts , Illinois Arts Council , ASCAP, and the Oklahoma Music Teachers' Association .
