Samwel Ovikowitsch Aslanjan ( Russian Самвел Овикович Асланян ; born February 23, 1986 in Voronezh , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian handball player .

Aslanjan was born in Voronezh, the son of an Armenian and a Russian woman. The 1.90 meter tall and 90 kilogram heavy right back player began playing handball at the Voronezh children's and youth sports school , played with Energija Voronezh from 2002 and was under contract with Medvedi Chekhov from 2006 , and in the first team from 2007. With Medvedi Chekhov he was Russian champion in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 and cup winner in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. Internationally he played in the seasons 2007/08 to 2012/13 in the EHF Champions League and with Voronezh in the EHF Challenge Cup in 2003/04 . After Medvedi ran into financial difficulties in the summer of 2013, he joined GK Permskie Medwedi , with whom he won the trophy in 2014. In January 2016 Aslanjan Sporting joined Lisbon . In summer 2016 he moved to the Romanian club CSM Bucharest .

Samwel Aslanjan scored 153 goals in 111 international matches for the Russian national team . He played at the 2008 Olympic Games and the 2010 and 2012 European Handball Championships .

Aslanjan graduated from the Voronezh State Sports University in 2008. He is married.
