Sandra Oh
Sandra Miju Oh (born July 20, 1971 in Ottawa ) is a Canadian actress of Korean descent.
Life
Oh grew up in Nepean , a neighborhood in Ottawa. For the first time she was there on stage at school performances at Sir Robert Borden High School . After graduating from school, she studied performing arts .
After graduation, Oh appeared in various series and television films such as the remakes of Cagney & Lacey and Kung Fu . In 1997 she got her first movie role in Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie. In 1998 she played a minor supporting role in the Oscar- winning film drama The Red Violin by François Girard with Samuel L. Jackson . In 2001 she was on the hit miniseries film version of the second volume of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City occupies cycle and entered the television series Six Feet Under - Died becomes more and Judging Amy on. Roles in movies she had among others Big Fat Liar , The Princess Diaries and Under the Tuscan Sun .
Oh received two Genie Awards for Best Actress, in 1994 for Double Happiness and 1999 for Last Night , among several other awards . From 2005 she played the role of Cristina Yang in the ABC series Grey's Anatomy . For this she received a Golden Globe Award in 2006 and was nominated for an Emmy five times in a row from 2005 to 2009 . In 2011 she received a star on Canada's Walk of Fame . By the end of the tenth season, she left Grey's Anatomy .
Oh was married to director and producer Alexander Payne since January 1, 2003 , who cast them in his Oscar-winning film Sideways . The two separated in 2005 and divorced in late 2006.
