Chief Medical Officer of the Navy
The chief medical officer of the Kriegsmarine was the highest person responsible for the medical service of the Kriegsmarine and was the technical superior of the subordinate departments and facilities as well as the hospital and hospital and wounded transport ships in the area of responsibility.
He was also the Head of Marinemedizinalabteilung that in the April 1, 1939 Marinemedizinalamt has been renamed. This was assigned to the staff of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy until October 1943 and to the General Navy Main Office from November 1943 .

A "service regulation for the medical chief of the Kriegsmarine" for the office was only drawn up in 1942 by the second chief medical officer Fikentscher and approved in July 1942 by Grand Admiral Erich Raeder .
