The Saint Joseph Cathedral ( Arabic كاتدرائية القديس يوسف, DMG Kātidrāʾīyat al-Qiddīs Yūsuf ) is the cathedral of the Chaldean Catholic Church in the Syrian city ​​of Aleppo . It is located in the Sulaymaniyah district.

history

The Saint Joseph Cathedral was built in the middle of the 20th century. The Chaldean eparchy of Aleppo , which includes the whole of Syria, was established by a bull of Pope Pius XII. Established in 1957, the newly built Saint Joseph Church in the Sulaymaniyah district became a Chaldean cathedral .

Acting Chaldean Bishop of Aleppo has been Antoine Audo (* 1946) since January 18, 1992 , who was ordained episcopal on October 11, 1992 by the Chaldean Patriarch of Babylon Raphael I. Bidawid .

In 2011 the Aleppo Eparchy comprised 14 parishes with 30,000 Chaldean Christians.
