Santillana del Mar is a city in the autonomous community of Cantabria in northern Spain .

The city with 4207 inhabitants (as of 2019) is located at 82 m above sea ​​level on the Bay of Biscaya on an area of ​​28.46 km² in the administrative district ( Comarca ) Costa Occidental and in the judicial district of Torrelavega . The nearest major city, Santander, is 31 km away.
