Sascha Oliver Udo Pallenberg (born November 22, 1971 in Dortmund ) is a German blogger and has worked in the corporate communications department at Daimler AG , for which he is responsible for social media, since 2017 . He lives in Taiwan .

He writes in the English blog netbooknews.com and in German at netbooknews.de . From 2012 to 2016 he ran the blog platform mobilegeeks.de , the thematic focus of which is on smartphones , tablets , notebooks and smart cars. When he switched to Daimler, he transferred his shares to co-founder Nicole Scott.

Career

After graduating from a university of applied sciences , Pallenberg joined the armed forces from 1992 to 1996 . He kept himself afloat with various jobs until he founded Techcase GbR in 2001 and sold mini-ITX systems under techcase.de . To market the shop, he started the online communities epiacenter.de and epiacenter.com . In 2004 Pallenberg left Techcase and founded epiOS GmbH & Co. KG , which produced software for embedded systems based on the Linux distribution Gentoo . The company closed in 2006. In 2007 he founded the blog eeepcnews.de and from 2008 was economically successful with 10,000 visitors per day. In 2009 Pallenberg moved to Taipei and founded New Media Publishing and Consulting Ltd in 2010 .

The Time Magazine , The New York Times , ABC News , ZDF ( Heute-Journal , today ) and many other great English and German newspapers, magazines and TV stations have interviewed Pallenberg as experts. In 2010, 2011 and 2012 it won the “Top 20 Smart Mobile Device Pundit” award.

Blogs, Businesses, and Reviews

The New Media Publishing and Consulting Ltd. operated the blogs netbooknews.de and netbooknews.com with a total of 20,000 to 25,000 visits a day. Initially the pages described netbooks , later also ultrabooks , tablets and smartphones . The associated YouTube channel minipcpro reaches 120,000 to 150,000 visitors per day with an average of three videos produced daily. At meetmobility.com , Pallenberg produced 70 podcasts with 20,000 listeners each. netbooknews.de won eighth place among the best IT blogs at Computerwoche 2010.

There are three 400 euro jobbers working for the company in Germany, one employee in Canada and, in addition to Pallenberg, its co-founder in Taipei. Sales in 2011 amounted to 350,000 US dollars . 65 percent of sales are generated through advertising income on YouTube. 20 percent of the financing happens on the blogs via affiliate links on Amazon , Google banner advertising , direct marketing of advertising space and the remaining 15 percent of sales are made up of income from consulting and speeches. In the meantime, Pallenberg even marketed his clothing as advertising space.

In the summer of 2013, Pallenberg also became known outside the blogger scene after denouncing the business practices of Eyeo GmbH (manufacturer of the ad blocker Adblock Plus ).

From July 2013 to December 2016, Pallenberg produced the Neuland podcast together with blogger Carsten Knobloch , which dealt with current developments in the markets for mobile, gadget and IT in general. After 75 episodes, the two bloggers ended the podcast on December 25, 2016 with the episode “The Grand Final”.

In January 2018 Sascha Pallenberg was criticized in a newspaper report it that he, the pyramid scheme supports "BitSequence" through recommendations and it gets commission. In a few weeks he is said to have recruited 170 people for the letterbox company "BitSequence", the people were enticed, among other things, with the statement that they would receive almost five million percent return (three per day). A few days after the press reports, the “BitSequenze.biz” pyramid scheme collapsed. On February 1, 2018, Sascha Pallenberg apologized to the weekly newspaper Zeit for his “naivety” among investors.
