The Saubachtal Bridge is a 248 meter long railway overpass on the new Erfurt – Leipzig / Halle line . It consists of two parallel, single-track bridges.

course

The structure lies between the route kilometers 237.033 and 237.281. It crosses between Bad Bibra and Saubach the valley of Saubachs and the federal highway 176 at a height of up to 40 meters and was completed in December 2006, the first major engineering structure of the new line. The bridge cost around eight million euros.

Immediately to the east of the bridge is the Bibra tunnel . Since this tunnel will be realized with two separate, single-track tunnels, the overpass consists of two single-track bridges at a distance of around 20 meters. They are the only single-track bridges in Germany that are designed for a design speed of 300 km / h. Immediately behind the western abutment, a flyover of the new line over the Finnebahn , a disused and now dismantled branch line of the Pfefferminzbahn , was built in 2002 . This is followed by the Saubachtal overtaking station and the Finne tunnel .

history

planning

According to the planning status of June 1994, the building was calculated with a net cost of 15 million D-Marks. According to the planning status from mid-1995, the 248 m long and 40 m high structure should be located between construction kilometers 45.93 and 46.18.

In 1995 a lawsuit by environmentalists was pending before the Federal Administrative Court against the construction of the bridge .

The bridge is located in the planning approval section 2.1 of the new line.

construction

In 1998 and 1999 accompanying landscape conservation measures were carried out . Construction work began in autumn 2004.

The superstructures were built between summer 2004 and December 2006 using incremental launching. As part of the construction work, the Saubach was relocated in the construction area.

A total of around 12,000 cubic meters of concrete and an estimated 1,600 tons of reinforcing steel were used.

Once the bridges have been completed, they will serve as access to the construction site to the west portal of the Bibra tunnel. In the final state, they are to be given a road surface next to the slab track due to their use as a rescue access to the Bibra tunnel .

Superstructures

The two single-track superstructures are longitudinally and transversely prestressed prestressed concrete structures and have a continuous beam with a span of 37 m + 4 × 44 m + 35 m as a static system. The cross-section is a single-cell box girder with a construction height of 3.6 m and a deck width of around nine meters.
