The FSV Saxonia Tangermünde is a German football club from Tangermünde in the Stendal district . The home of the club, which has around 200 members, is the Stadion am Wäldchen .

1. FC Saxonia 07

Saxonia Tangermünde was founded in 1907 under the name 1. FC Saxonia 07 . The club operated in the mid-twenties in the Gauliga Altmark , where he was able to break through the dominance of Viktoria Stendal and Singer Wittenberge in the 1927/28 season and won the championship. In the subsequent Central German Championship , the Altmärker had no chance against large clubs like the Dresdner SC , and were eliminated early. Tangermünde could not qualify for the Gauliga Mitte , which was introduced in 1933 , but only narrowly failed in 1937 on promotion. Due to Directive No. 23 of the Allied Control Council of the Occupying Powers, the association had to be dissolved in the course of 1945.

Up / Saxonia Tangermünde

As a replacement for 1. FC, SG Tangermünde was re-established in 1945 . Already in 1951 the name was changed to SG Roter Adler Tangermünde . With the establishment of the sports association Empor as an association of all sports communities with sponsoring companies from the retail and food industry, the BSG Empor Tangermünde was founded in 1951 instead of the SG . In 1964, Empor was promoted to the Magdeburg district league for the first time , in which Tangermünde was not able to establish itself until 1975 after several relegations. In 1983, the BSG surprisingly won the championship in the Magdeburg district and rose to the GDR league . The second division season started promisingly with a victory over the promotion candidate Chemie Böhlen , but with only ten season points Tangermünde had no chance in the end. In 1989 Tangermünde relegated to the district class, but reported back in 1991 under the historical name Saxonia in the Association League Saxony-Anhalt , in which the promotion to the Oberliga Nordost was missed in 1995 with the runner-up behind VfL Halle in 1896 . In 1999 the Altmarkers were relegated from the Association League. Since then, Saxonia Tangermünde has been commuting between the national league and the national class without exception.
