The Schader Foundation is a non-profit foundation under civil law based in Darmstadt . It finances its promotional activities from the proceeds of the private fortune donated by Alois M. Schader . The Schader Foundation was established in 1988.

Foundation purpose

The purpose of the foundation is to promote the social sciences . The foundation wants to promote communication and cooperation between the social sciences and practice as well as practical orientation in the social sciences. The Schader Foundation sees itself as a dialogue platform that enables, carries out, moderates and sometimes also publishes scientific, public and civil society projects.

The funding activity is divided into six subject areas:

  • Common good and responsibility
  • Democracy and engagement
  • Sustainable development
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Urban development and housing
  • Communication and culture
  • Demography and structural change

The Schader Foundation mainly promotes by organizing event cooperations in its own foundation center in Darmstadt. The purpose of the foundation, the dialogue between social sciences and practice, means that scientific projects also consistently involve practice. According to the foundation's statutes, "social sciences are understood to mean all sciences that deal with the further development of the community." A "Call for Conferences" is aimed at the sociological specialist societies and at projects of the German Research Foundation .
