history
Ship testing command
The ship test command was set up on April 16, 1956 in Kiel . It emerged from the Provisional Planning Staff for Planning New Ship Buildings , which had existed since January 23, 1956 , and was one of the first agencies that the Federal Navy set up after its establishment. It was led by an officer with the rank of sea captain and was directly subordinate to the Navy Department in the Federal Ministry of Defense . His tasks were the testing of new ships of all kinds, including machinery, armament and equipment; the collection and evaluation of all experiences and suggestions for new developments made during trials.
Takeover command
In the course of a reorganization of the Navy, the Ship Trial Command was assigned to the newly established Central Navy Command from February 1, 1962 and renamed the Ship Takeover Command . On October 1, 1965, it was subordinated to the newly established Naval Office . In another reorganization, it was dissolved on August 31, 1968 and transferred to the new command for troop attempts of the navy based in Eckernförde .
